The American Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibition will be on display at the Martin Museum of Art Baylor University in Waco, Texas July 5th – August 13th. An except from the Museum Catalog follows:

“The American Watercolor Society traveling exhibition, selected from the original New York exhibition, consists of forty paintings executed by artists internationally. Joyce Hicks, a 2010 and 2011 American Watercolor Society award winner will present a gallery talk and watercolor demonstration on July 13th at 1:30pm.”

I am looking forward to this event and hope all who can will join me. The event is free and everyone is cordially invited.

144th American Watercolor Society Chooses Painting for Award and Travel Show

A Farmhouse I Saw in Virginia has been chosen by the Jury of Awards to receive the Alan R. Chiara Memorial Award and will be included in the 144th American Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibition. The show will go on a circuit of museums and galleries around the country in the year ahead. A schedule of the tour may be found on the AWS website. This will be my second year to receive this wonderful honor and I couldn’t be more pleased.

The American Watercolor Society was organized in 1866 to promote the art of watercolor painting in America. Former members include Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Charles Burchfield and Childe Hassam. Today the American Watercolor Society exhibition promotes contemporary watercolor artists from around the world and attracts thousands of visitors each year.

American Watercolor Society Announces 2011 Exhibitors

AWS was founded in 1866 to promote the art of watercolor painting in America. Each year the Society holds a juried exhibition of watercolors from artists throughout the world. The society’s exhibitors list is now posted on the American Watercolor Society website. For me to find that another of my paintings was chosen again this year and will hang in this prestigious show alongside some of the worlds finest watercolor artists pleases me beyond measure. A Farmhouse I Saw in Virginia was chosen for inclusion in the 144th International Exhibition and will be shown from April 5th through May 1st at the Salmagundi Club Gallery in New York City.
