A collector told me to be sure and see Sedona. I’m glad we took her advice because, just as she said, it’s an incredibly beautiful place. Below are just a few of the many photos I’ve taken so far.

Driving the Enchanted Circle

The Enchanted Circle is a scenic drive through beautiful country in New Mexico. The circle includes the mountain villages of Red River, Quest, Taos, Cimarron, Angel Fire and Eagles Nest. All of the towns were charming and quaint, but I think Taos was my favorite. Flowers were blooming everywhere and the Hollyhocks were abundant. Following are some pictures I took while there.

We have found cool weather, at last and the landscape is incredibly beautiful. I think we’ll stay for awhile.

On the road again!

We are leaving our home here in Tyler, Texas tomorrow morning for a wonderful month of leisurely travel. It is so hot here in East Texas right now that we are definitely headed for cooler weather. We will make our way North to visit places like Taos, Durango, Mesa Verde, Sedona, Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion National Parks. I’ve always wanted to visit Yellowstone too so we may add that to our itinerary as well. I’ll take lots of photos, sketch and paint studies for a new series of paintings once back home.

Thinking of this makes my head spin with the beautiful places I’m going to see. I’m inspired just thinking about it, but being able to see the places up close and personal will be even better. I hope you’ll join me on my Blog where I plan to share our travel experiences with photos and text as we go again in search of beautiful places to paint…..

2010 Travel Plans

Now that the holiday season is past we are beginning to think about what beautiful places we might want to travel to this year. One idea for Spring or early Summer might be to make our way South along the coastal highway to the tip of the Florida Keys. Salt air, white sand, seashells, turquoise water, fresh seafood and lazy days always leave me inspired. Maybe a journey in the opposite direction North to Colorado to see Mesa Verde National Park for archaeological sites, mesa top pueblos and mountain vistas would be fun too. I have always wanted to visit Yellowstone and we could easily add that destination to our itinerary as well.

Our Fall travel plans will include the Eastern Shore to travel the coastal road along the Atlantic for visits to Nantucket, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and any other villages we can find along the way. We will plan to time it so that we can be in the Vermont area to witness the Fall foliage as it begins it’s awesome show of color before making our way back home to Tyler, Texas.

Thinking of all this makes my head spin with all the beautiful places I will see. I am inspired to paint just thinking about it but being able to see it all up close and personal will be even better yet. Our plans will become more definite as Spring draws near so please check back for dates of departure. As aways I will share our travel experiences here on my blog with photos and text along the way.
