I just completed a new 18×24 original watercolor painting called Westport by the Sea from a small watercolor study done earlier. Westport is a small coastal village which sits along the Pacific Coast Highway. The scene had an especially peaceful and serene feel about it.
After blocking in the large areas I added a few shadows which will establish the direction of the sun. I do lots of preliminary work to catch potential problems before ever putting paint to paper.
