The Aspen tree is glorious as it begins its show of color each Fall. It is easy for me to conjure up images of them in my mind’s eye and hear the tinkling sound their leaves make as the wind blows through them. This latest original watercolor painting was done completely from my imagination. Once the vision was clearly in mind I first began with the placement of a few simple shapes penciled in lightly on the watercolor paper. I did not bother with value sketches or color studies which I normally do before any new painting. I just began applying the watercolor paint onto the paper and the scene I envisioned seemed to flow magically from my brush. This is a wonderful and freeing way to create a scene and one that brings me tremendous pleasure. I hope my joy shows in the painting and that you will enjoy Aspen Color just as much as I enjoyed painting it.
